LONDON FASHION WEEK

23.09.2010
My not posting these last few days has a reason: I was in London for Fashion Week and too lazy to bring my laptop. It was very nice to see the shows and especially see all the famous people front row. I know this sounds corny, but when you see Olivia Palermo from The City sitting in front of you, it's kind of unreal.
I stayed in a hotel very close to St. Paul's cathedral and one morning when I walked to the subway, there was this huge crowd of people there. Turnes out, there was a memorial service for Alexander McQueen and the whole fashion world was there to pay tribute. So this is how it happened, that I came eye to eye with Sarah Jessica Parker, Stella McCartney, Karen Elson, Daphne Guinness and Naomi Campbell all in the same random morning. I just missed Kate Moss and Anna Wintour though...

I went to a couple of shows and liked some more than others. I liked the Matthew Williamson show because it was so well organised and his models were beautiful. The collection was elegant and very glamourous (what else to expect from Williamson). His designs are never amongst my favourites, but I liked what I saw.

RODARTE GOES GOLD

RODARTE GOES GOLD

Gold and blue, that is. What a collection. So different from what we know from the Mulleavy sisters. But in a way, truely Rodarte-like and again a completely new point of view. Schoolgirls with gold lipstick.

Lipstick is totally my thing lately. I especially like my orange YSL lipstick, not as bright as the one this girl is wearing here, but still very orange.

ACT DA FOOL : WHY

06.09.2010
This weekend, I went to Foam in Amsterdam, to see Pretty Much Everything. After my visit, I sat on my rooftop and read a short interview with Inez and Vinoodh by Glen O'Brien. They talked about the exhibition, ofcourse, but also about the future of fashion photography and advertising. Inez and Vinoodh said that the future of fashion advertisement lies in film. This kind of opened my eyes a little. Not because I had never thought about this myself, but because when I read their explanation it just made so much sense and all the pieces came together. I realised they are right, and that film is going to be the way to go.
That's why I wanted to show you the film by Harmony Korine for Proenza Schouler. It's like an ad, but with movement, sound and words. Expect a lot of this in the future.

MARIA NILSDOTTER

MARIA NILSDOTTER

You have to visit the website of Maria Nilsdotter. She creates the most beautiful jewellery that she shows on her blog. Also, she shows images, drawings and moodboards there. Maria is from Stockholm, and when I was in the big department store NK in Stockholm a few weeks ago, I spotted her rings there. I tried one on, the 18 krt yellow gold clawring with rubies, and ofcourse I loved it. But it was close to 1400 euro's, so I had the nice sales lady put it back in the glass safety box.

The man inspired button down shirt is the new thing. I mostly like sheer ones, they're that much more feminine and subtle. This one from Equipment is gorgeous.

I recently bought my own little leopard print leather bag, I showed you a couple of weeks ago. I really enjoy carrying it around, and even more when I see these images. I love a good leopard print, but it has to be subtle. That's why I think it's best to wear it as an accessory, instead of a full piece of clothing. This huge Wang clutch is amazing for it's size and shape, but it's even more incredible because of it's print.
